5 Books to Read this Autumn

Nothing makes you want to cozy up more than the weather changing and the leaves falling. In the fall, all I want is a cup of tea, a blanket, and to curl up with a good book. If you are anything like me, then this is also what you are looking forward to now that summer is over.

Where I live, the last of the sunny days start to fade at the end of September, and in its place we get a lot of rainy days. Sweaters have made an appearance and I have started sourcing soup recipes.

Here is the list of books I’m looking forward to reading:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JKR

  • Let’s be real, this is 100% a reread. This is quite possibly the best book in the entire series. I return to this series every few years but this book is one I return to more often than others. It feels more “Halloween-y” than the rest that really vibes with the season changing.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas

  • This one may be a doozy in size (over 1200 pages!) but I am determined to read it at some point. The book has been sitting on my TBR list for years. Reportedly, the book is sooooo much better than the amazing 2002 movie adaptation. I just picked up the audiobook from the library so I plan to read/listen to this book while on my road trip/vacation that I have coming up.

Burn it Down by Lily Fyfe

  • This is a collection of essays about women’s anger from the women who felt the anger. It has been highly recommended by every person who has read it. That’s all I know and I am stoked to borrow it from the library.

Saga by Vaughan & Staples

  • According to Goodreads “fantasy and science fiction are wed like never before in this sexy, subversive drama for adults.” I have read the first 2 and I am excited to read the rest. My husband purchased Volumes 3-9 the first chance he had after we read the first two because he enjoyed them so much.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King

  • This is also, technically, a reread but it’s been over 15 years. This story is a short one. I will likely prioritize before the end of the month just because it is a little on the spooky side. This will also be the first story about a child that I would have read since I had my daughter. I have to wonder if that will change how it hits.

So there you have it. The books that I am excited to read this fall. What are you reading?
